One Year Well Visit

We went for Kellen's one year well visit last Wednesday. He is 24 lbs 7 oz and 30 1/4 in. This keeps him in the 75 percentile for his weight and height. Doctor says its time to take him off of the formula and start whole milk. So its been three days and we have him drinking one bottle a day of whole milk, which he seems to like. I also cut out one of his feedings. He was drinking four bottles a day, now he's just getting three. Its been a hard transition for him. He doesn't eat a lot of solid foods and doesn't drink much out of his cup so he's been very hungry in between meals. The doctor says he has to learn to eat more solids to make up the difference. He is walking all over the place now. Its funny to see how he's transitioned right into walking. In the first few days he was still crawling a lot and walking only when we stood him up, now he walks all the time and rarely crawls. He's also mimicking a lot of things we do, like pointing, clapping, and talking on the phone. Now we really have to watch what we say and do!

Box of Fun

Kellen loves to play with cardboard boxes. He kept himself entertained for a long time the other day with this one!

Snow Day

Kellen got to take his first sled ride this morning. He enjoyed being pulled around the yard, but wasn't so happy when the snow would get on his face...too COLD. The snow is pretty, but we are ready for Spring. I hope warm weather comes soon!

Fun at the Park

Last week we had some really nice weather (for February), so we took advantage and spent some time out in the sun. We met our friends Meredith and Lyndon at the local park. The boys were so cute together. I hope we get to do it again soon!

One Year Has Come and Gone

It is so hard to believe that our little boy is one today. This time last February we were meeting face to face for the first time. I can't begin to list all the joys that he has brought to us over this past year.

Kellen, we love you and thank the Lord for every day that we get to spend with you! Happy Birthday my sweet sweet boy!

Chilling In My Chair

Chilling with my feet up, chatting on the phone. Wonder who's he imitating here?

Mickey Chair

I think this is Kellen's favorite birthday gift! He loves his new Mickey rocking chair. He sits in it and watches TV, just like daddy. He even knows how to rock in it. As you can see from the video, he needs to be supervised when playing in the chair.

First Birthday Party

Yesterday we celebrated Kellen's first birthday with friends and family. He was so excited to see everyone. He loves all the attention. I can't believe its been nearly a year since he arrived. He has already learned so much and is such a sweet boy. Happy Birthday baby boy!

He was excited about his cupcake, but wasn't quite sure what to do with it at first. This was his first taste of sweets. He also got to try icecream for the first time. It didn't take too long for him to get the hang of it.

We had a friend make his first cake. It turned out so cute!

He also got some new toys, clothes, and books to enjoy! There was a lot to open, but thankfully he had help from his friends.

He's Walking

So just a few days ago I noticed that Kellen was really starting to get brave, letting go of the couch or table and freely standing for several seconds. So I started walking with him around the house, making him hold on with only one hand instead of two, and before I knew it he was taking steps all by himself. Tonight he walked from the coffee table in the living room all the way into the kitchen. Amazing! It was just about a week ago, when Billy and I were talking about how we didn't think he would walk before his first birthday and now its a little more than a week away and he's cruising all over the house like a pro! He's getting so big, so fast! We are looking forward to celebrating his 1st Birthday this weekend! Go Kellen!
